Our Partners

“If the rich and wealthy corporations paid what they owed in taxes, we could have the quality schools, affordable healthcare, and good-paying jobs our families need to thrive.”

Let’s work together to create shared prosperity for all Michiganders by fully and fairly funding our essential services that our families rely on.

Fund MI Future is a joint effort of nonpartisan community organizations, unions of working people, and policy experts working to create shared prosperity for all Michiganders by fully and fairly funding our public services like schools, roads, and clean water.

The Michigan Education Justice Coalition is a statewide network committed to advocating for equitable public education policies and funding to create safe and healthy learning environments. This includes advocating for equitable funding, investment in mental health, the replacement of standardized testing, the creation of structures to bring students into leadership positions, and budgets that reflect the values and needs of the communities of Michigan.

Nation Outside is a movement that uses community education strategies and civic engagement initiatives to inspire our members and the community to get involved in knowledgeable, sustainable, and socially just forms of advocacy to support currently and formerly incarcerated folks, their loved ones, and their communities in order to inspire and create real reform in the criminal justice system.

Nation Outside has successfully organized and engaged justice-impacted voices, such as those who have experienced incarceration along with their family, friends, and allies, in the development of more effective criminal justice policies. These efforts continue to let policy-makers know that our community needs policies and systems in place that will address root causes of incarceration, and promote both communal healing and community stability.

In 1968, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and many others called for a “revolution of values” in America. They sought to build a broad, fusion movement that could unite poor and impacted communities across the country. Their name was a direct cry from the underside of history: The Poor People’s Campaign.

Today, the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival has picked up this unfinished work. From Alaska to Arkansas, the Bronx to the border, people are coming together to confront the interlocking evils of systemic racism, poverty, ecological devastation, militarism and the war economy, and the distorted moral narrative of religious nationalism. We understand that as a nation we are at a critical juncture — that we need a movement that will shift the moral narrative, impact policies and elections at every level of government, and build lasting power for poor and impacted people.

Safe & Just Michigan works to reduce the harm caused by both crime and unnecessary incarceration. We advance evidence-based reforms that can improve public safety and eliminate unnecessary and wasteful corrections spending.

Safe & Just Michigan partners with Michigan organizations and leaders from across the political spectrum, including business and community leaders, faith communities, crime survivor organizations, formerly incarcerated individuals, prisoners and their families, as well as Michigan taxpayers statewide. We hold in common the certainty that we can build a safer and more just Michigan.
