Listening Sessions

There are several people who struggle with non-violent convictions on their record. Some of them are unable to gain employment, adequate housing, and proper education. We are dedicating our time to assist these individuals with a chance at a new life.

As of April 12th, the laws regarding expungement have changed. The Clean Slate Law allows for an individual to petition for an expungement in several ways, and creates a process that will automatically seal non-violent convictions. Learn more about Clean Slate Expungement and how you may can help others or get help for yourself.

Educate and Share with others to help them learn more and see if it can help them or someone they know.

Do you know who your Congressional Members (House of Representatives, Senators, etc.) are for your district?

The goal of the listening session is to frame the community “as it is”, vs. the “ideal community”, and in so doing, determine what are the deepest felt issues, and what are improvements people would like to see. Download the “Listening Session Basics” PDF

1-1s foster the ability to:

  • build/deepen relationships

  • identify and develop leaders

  • gather new ideas

  • to determine someone’s self interest (i.e. what motivates them, that they care about deeply)

  • build organizations for action.

Truth and Justice Tuesday was created so that we can organize, educate the community and congregations, and raise awareness of the issues that matter to you.  Together we reach out to our Michigan legislators.

As stewards of racial justice, we ask that you dedicate time with us on select Tuesdays, to  reach out to your Representatives. We are asking volunteers to make calls, send text messages, send emails, and post on social media; including targeting rules in all health care, to support the state budget and other federal funding for under-represented Communities.
