2022 DAY OF EMPATHY

  • Michigan State Capitol- Speaker's Library 100 North Capitol Avenue Lansing, MI, 48933 United States (map)

Michigan Faith in Action is pleased to be a Co-State Sponsor of the 2022 Day of Empathy, which will take place at the Michigan State Capitol on Tuesday, March 22 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. inside the Speaker's Library. We hope you'll be able to join us for a day that will be packed full of enlightening and informational panel talks, chances to meet with either your own legislators or lawmakers on the discussion panels and many opportunities to catch up with colleagues you've made in the criminal justice reform community before, or to make new friends.

The Day of Empathy, nationally sponsored by Dream Corps Justice, was created to give people who have been impacted by the justice system a day to meet with key decision-makers in their state in order to share their stories and to illustrate why Michigan needs comprehensive criminal justice reform. Legislators need to hear from their constituents in order to do their job well, and we need to make sure that they hear our voices among them. This year, Michigan legislators are considering bills that could affect productivity credits for incarcerated people, bail reform, ending the practice of sentencing juveniles to life without parole, and more.

Participating in this event is free, and we hope you'll join us. However, space inside the Speaker's Library is limited, so please register now to secure your spot.
