Michigan Faith in Action (MFA), community members, clergy, lay leaders, grassroots and other concerned leaders from across the state have been engaging in Truth and Justice Tuesday sessions. Our goal is to build a more moral and just Michigan by using our combined political power as a vehicle.
This year, much of our focus has been on The Raise the Age Bill and Clean Slate Michigan. We believe that raising the age of juvenile court jurisdiction and automatic record clearing are both critical to healing our communities and making Michigan safer.
Special thanks to our MFA Leaders, State Representative Julie Brixie, District 69, Gary Jones, Community Liaison-Flint and JayShona Hicks, Issues Specialist, both from the Office of Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Also, our partners Rodd Monts, Campaign Outreach Coordinator of ACLU, Tony Gant, Jackson Chapter Coordinator of Nation Outside and John Cooper, Executive Director of Safe and Just Michigan. Thank you all for your continued support, extensive knowledge and advocacy work on these important issues.
As people of faith, we are compelled to identify the issues that residents of Michigan are facing around social injustices. It is our goal to build power in order to transform communities with solutions created and identified by the community.
We look forward to our upcoming “Truth and Justice Tuesday’ sessions! Future dates and times will be announced as soon as possible.
