Rick Carter
Arthur (Rick) Carter is the Executive Director for Michigan Faith in Action. Prior to Michigan Faith in Action, Rick worked for Hurley Medical Center. He held a number of leadership positions while there, including one of the Operational Vice Presidents. In this role, he was responsible for more than $150 million of the $230 million operational budget with both clinical and nonclinical responsibilities. Rick also spent about fourteen years at General Motors Corporation. While there he worked at both the divisional and corporate levels. His experience at the divisional level was primarily in the personnel arena in benefits and labor relations. At the corporate level, he was a member of the national arbitration and EEO compliance teams. Also, he spent a stint at writing speeches for key executives, as well as developing policies and benefits packages for state-side and international service personnel.
Rick has been a member or chair of more than fifteen  local boards, such as the Hamilton Clinic, Boy Scouts, Community Coalition, Knights of Columbus, Community Development Corporation, Metro Housing Partnership and African American Advisory Committee of the Chamber.
Rick has a BS in Psychology and a Masters in Industrial Relations from Purdue University. He has also taken executive development programs at Harvard and Cornell Universities in Healthcare. He is originally from Kokomo, Indiana and has three adult children.

Sharon Allen
Sharon D. Allen is the Resource and Fund Development Director for Michigan Faith in Action. Born and raised in Flint, on St. John Street, Sharon graduated from Luke M. Powers high school in 1979. Sharon was very active in the community advocating for higher political activity among minorities and the disadvantaged and still is. One of her first actions was with the Rainbow Coalition in 1982 at Flint city hall. She attended C.S. Mott Community College prior to working for the Federal Emergency Management Agency in Chicago in 1986. She returned to Flint in 1998. Sharon began working for the Flint Community Schools in various schools and departments and got a real flavor for the school system her son was attending.

She began as a part-time administrative assistant with Flint Area Congregations Together, now MFA, in October of 2009 and in six months became full-time. Six months later the executive committee decided to make her a community organizer in 2010. In 2014 Sharon began her present position. She loves talking and getting to know people and their passions. Sharon loves the sense of collaborating with community members and organizations that help people in need. She is passionate about voter’s rights, education, youth activities, and the elderly.
